iPresence has devised a new solution that enables cable-free remote control by equipping the autonomous mobile robot "temi Platform" with Canon's high-performance remote camera "CR-N700." This innovative technology was exhibited for the first time at "Inter BEE 2024 / Makuhari Messe," a gathering of audio, video, and communications professionals held from November 11 to 13, 15, and attracted the attention of many visitors.

The "CR-N700" is a remote camera that supports 4K60P, has a high-precision auto-tracking function (eye detection and head detection AF), and is equipped with a 15x optical zoom, enabling clear and smooth video capture. At this exhibition, visitors were able to actually experience the autonomous movement function of the temi Platform combined with the auto-tracking function of the installed Canon remote camera, experiencing the evolution of remote operation technology and its potential applications.

Through their exhibition at Inter BEE 2024, iPresence and Canon Marketing Japan demonstrated the new value that can be achieved by combining autonomous mobile robots with high-performance camera technology and remote control technology. The solution exhibited this time combines high-performance remote cameras, autonomous mobile robots, and remote operation, and is expected to be used in a variety of fields, including:

1. Live video streaming at event venues

The autonomous mobile robot will record the state of the venue as it moves and deliver live footage from multiple viewpoints, providing viewers with a more immersive experience. Although the condition is that the surface underfoot is flat, it is expected that tasks that do not require advanced filming skills will be carried out remotely and that one person will be able to operate multiple cameras.

2.Remote patrol and inspection of factories

The robot moves autonomously throughout a wide range of factories and uses high-performance remote cameras to check the status of equipment in more detail than is possible with direct human eyes and detect abnormalities in real time, thereby improving work efficiency and safety.

3. Remote visit and guidance to showrooms

Customers can check products and exhibits from a remote location as if they were visiting a showroom, and operators can also participate remotely to provide real-time guidance. High-performance remote cameras can accurately and attractively show customers the colors and color temperatures of exhibits.

4. Remote learning and streaming of classes in educational settings

During classes with a high degree of freedom, such as workshops, the autonomous mobile robot can be moved around the classroom to clearly see the sticky notes and posters that the instructor and students have drawn up during brainstorming, and can also directly participate in conversations, improving the quality of participation in remote classes.

5. Remote monitoring in server rooms

The robot patrols the server room and uses remote cameras to monitor the status of racks, instruments, and wiring, enabling early detection of abnormalities and swift response.
